At Common Good Coffee, we've always believed that exceptional coffee and ethically business practices go hand in hand.
We're stoked to introduce our latest Special Edition roast from the Koba Mulatu cooperative in Ethiopia's celebrated Guji zone—get ready for a premium organic coffee experience that exemplifies our commitment to Fairtrade principles.

OK, SO WHERE IS THIS COFFEE FROM?
Ethiopia is widely recognized as the birthplace of coffee, and the Guji region stands among its most distinguished organic growing areas. The Koba Mulatu cooperative operates within the broader Oromia Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (O.C.F.C.U), an organization deeply rooted in the communities across Ethiopia's premier coffee-growing regions.

What makes O.C.F.C.U remarkable is their steadfast commitment to community development through Fairtrade practices. Their primary cooperatives focus on building essential health facilities, establishing schools, and improving access to clean water—addressing fundamental needs that directly impact farmers' quality of life and showcasing the real-world impact of ethically traded coffee.

NATURE'S PERFECT TIMING
The epic quality of this Fairtrade organic coffee is partly a gift from nature itself. In the Koba Mulatu area on the edge of the Guji zone, the main rains conclude a few weeks before the coffee cherries reach full ripeness. This timing means the first harvested fruit stays plump and juicy—creating ideal conditions for processing.

The coffee undergoes careful washing at central stations, where it's pulped and fermented in large concrete tanks before being thoroughly washed and dried on elevated tables. This traditional method naturally separates unripe or damaged "floaters," ensuring only the finest organic beans make it into our roaster and your cup.

WHY DO WE LOVE THIS COFFEE?
The result is truly something we can't get enough of: a bold, full-bodied coffee with a luscious ripe sweetness.
With flavours of bergamot, peacharine, gingerbread spice, malteaser chocolate, this pour over paradise is one to savour and enjoy. This balance of boldness and subtlety is what makes these Ethiopian coffees so sought after by coffee lovers worldwide.

When you brew this Special Edition, you're doing more than enjoying a premium Fairtrade organic coffee experience. You're participating in a relationship that honours the expertise and dedication of Oromo farmers who have cultivated coffee excellence across generations through ethically traded partnerships.

In a world where supply chains often obscure the human stories behind our daily pleasures, we believe in transparency and connection. Your purchase supports O.C.F.C.U's vital community initiatives while recognizing the skilled hands that make exceptional Fairtrade coffee possible.

But it's not just epic taste - it's world-changing purpose - enjoy knowing that $5/kg of this Fairtrade organic coffee supports the work of Joyya sparking good in places of extreme poverty and modern slavery.

The Koba Mulatu Special Edition coffee is available for a limited time in our roastery, online shop, and at select cafés while supplies last - look out for the distinctive black label.
Don’t miss out!
