Introducing Mylk Blend

Kind Morningside by Bruno.jpeg

With plant-based milks riding a popularity wave, we set to work creating a coffee blend that performs like a champion with any and every milk.
The result is MYLK - a coffee that always tastes exceptional, any way you milk it.

We already knew that most plant-based milks work well with the existing range of Common Good Coffee. And our well rounded Better Blend is a great option for enjoying espresso without the curdle-factor that’s often encountered with plant-based milk. But we wanted to push the boundaries and create a new blend with a lighter roast profile that complemented plant-based milks.

All plant-based milks have an overall lower environmental impact than dairy. Increasingly, people are switching to plant-based milks for both personal and environmental health reasons. Common Good Coffee is constantly striving to do gooder, so getting behind this shift was a no-brainer. Creating a coffee that doesn’t compromise on taste whilst working with plant-based milks was the logical next step.

Mylk is a game changer for coffee drinkers who prefer alternative milks, because it’s a phenomenal coffee that’s designed with plant-based milk in mind. Our roaster Vernon Omeri describes it as “tradition and modernity dancing together.” He goes on to explain “Amarena cherry as a note is something truly Italian and to get this blend singing that tune is an ode to the Italian legacy of espresso. This blend holds the tradition of a lighter roasted espresso with a refreshing crisp nectarine flavour that rounds out the blend nicely.”

Part of the inspiration for Mylk was KIND cafe in Morningside. Following the mantra by author Michael Pollan, “Eat food, not too much, mostly plants”, KIND is a (mostly) vegan café that specialises in healthy, delicious food options, serving an outstanding plant-based menu. The real litmus test for whether Mylk is a winner, is what the good folk at KIND thought about it.

When asked, KIND’s manager Cathie Cottle said “We are super stoked to have a coffee blend that is specifically designed to be used with all our alternative milks. At KIND, we are a mostly plant-based cafe. Plant-based milks are becoming increasingly popular. Most of our coffees are made with plant-based milks and more than 70% of these are created with oat milk. Mylk is the perfect addition to the Common Good family.”
Mylk’s won their seal of approval. Following its release, Mylk will become the house blend used at KIND.

Mylk’s a tasty coffee that will have you drinking gooder while feeling gooder (and with $5 from every kilo purchased going to Joyya you’ll be doing gooder too). Sounds like a good time, right?
